작가 소개
정재훈, 지비지, 그리고 후니훈. 그는 세 가지 이름을 가지고 있다.
비트박스로 대중에게 잘 알려진 ‘후니훈’은 ‘지비지’라는 예명으로 미술세계를 펼치고 있으며, 그 저변에는 정재훈이라는 아티스트가 존재한다. 과거 래퍼였던 독특한 이력을 가진 정재훈 작가가 추구하는 키워드는 ‘자유로부터 얻는 치유’이다.
쉽지만은 않았던 음악 활동에서 잠시 휴식을 가지는 동안 그가 새롭게 잡은 것은 종이와 마커였다. 동물적인 감각으로부터 자연스럽게 시작된 그의 미술 세계엔 자유로움이 넘쳐났다. 아무 생각 없이 몰입해서 자유롭게 그림을 그리다 보니, 그동안 받았던 스트레스와 고난들을 치유받았다는 그는 기존에 느껴보지 못한 새로운 시각을 통해 새로운 세상을 마주했다. ‘직선은 인간의 선이고, 곡선은 신의 선이다’라는 가우디의 세계관에 영감받은 그는 여러 가지 시도를 해보며 정재훈 작가만의 독특한 스타일을 구축하였다. 때묻지 않은 그의 자유로운 화풍으로, 봉준호 감독의 영화 ‘기생충’에 참여하여 영화 속 어린아이의 세계관을 대변하였다. 비트박스의 신드롬의 장본인에서 오스카 아카데미 시상식 4관왕의 참여 작가가 되기까지, 그의 예술 스펙트럼에는 제한이 없다.
힘들고 어려웠을 때 자유로움과 행복감을 찾게 해준 그림으로 치유를 받았던 그는, 작품에 희로애락을 담아, 보는 이들로 하여금, 희망의 메시지로 치유되길 바란다.
